Stargate Studios Virtual Backlot Demo by Stargate Studios

Stargate Studios Virtual Backlot Demo from Stargate Studios on Vimeo.

Stargate Studios' Virtual Backlot™ is a proprietary technology that gives filmmakers unparalleled access to any location through a variety of techniques. These can range from totally immersive sequences shot entirely on green screen to simple set extensions that marry into principal photography.

The common thread between all the variations of the Virtual Backlot™ is that it has been designed as a seamless and unobtrusive addition to the first unit. The goal is to enhance the story as well as solve production issues. Each production has unique challenges and needs and the Stargate Virtual Backlot™ aims to meet those challenges and needs in a creative and cost effective manner.

Bell & Howell Filmo № 75

Bell & Howell Filmo № 75, originally uploaded by John Kratz.

The beautiful Filmo 75 is a 16mm movie camera, produced in Chicago beginning in 1928. It was intended for amateur use, but the quality of its construction makes it easy to see why Bell & Howell cameras were the tools of choice for Hollywood studios in the early days of motion pictures.

Although rather heavy by today's standards, the 75 was quite compact for its time, and was marketed as a ladies' camera. Its ornate leather covering was available in Walnut Brown, Ebony Black, and Silver Birch (seen here).

Truly a work of art.

Kandian Cheif and Family

Kandian Cheif and Family, originally uploaded by Thushan Sanjeewa.

This shot was taken from a book called "Photography's Beginnings - A Visual History" Featuring the collection of WM. B. Becker 1989 Oakland University.

Original photo was taken in year 1880.
This shot shows dresses bangals and necklaces that wore in that period in Sri Lanka (known as Ceylon at that time). Look at the number of necklaces worn by those women.
